Portrait of Zoe, Neurodivergent, Somatic and Trauma-Informed Counsellor and Coach at Polaris Counselling Hub in Aberdeen

Hi I’m Zoe

As a trauma and somatic counsellor, I help people understand themselves better by connecting the dots between your experiences, understanding your patterns and behaviours and learning more about yourself. A big part of this is also focusing on your nervous system, which is often overlooked.

My practice is neurodivergent friendly and I have years of experience working with ADHD, Autism and AuDHD, especially around Rejection Sensitive Dysphoria (RSD). I also strive to hold an inclusive and welcoming space for LGBTQIA+ clients and am proud to be a member of Proud Wellness.

Why Your Nervous System Matters

Think of your nervous system as your body's control centre. It handles how you react to stress, how you feel and how you think. When life gets busy or overwhelming, our nervous system can get stuck in "go, go, go" mode. This can make it hard to focus, feel calm or even know what you truly need, which can often lead to burnout and even feeling a little lost in life, just moving from one moment to the next without quite catching a breath.

Slowing Down Helps You Connect

Healing often begins when we slow down. It's about taking a moment to notice what's happening in the body as well as your mind. Maybe your thoughts are racing, you feel a tightness in your chest or your jaw is clenched. When you gently pay attention to these signals, you're not trying to "fix" anything. Instead, you're giving yourself space to:

  • Understand yourself better: When you slow down, you can tune into what your body is trying to tell you. This helps you figure out what you truly need and how you really feel.

  • Find your own answers: In this quiet space, you can start to see things more clearly and uncover insights that were hidden by all the busyness. It's like dimming the noise so you can hear your inner wisdom.

  • Feel more grounded: Learning to calm your nervous system helps you feel more steady and centered, even when life is challenging.

My Approach

We won't go digging for old wounds or force anything. We'll simply create a safe space for you to explore what comes up, always at your own pace.

Together, we’ll gently get to know your patterns, how your nervous system responds to the world and what you really need. From there, we can begin to shape a life that feels steadier, more spacious, and more aligned with who you truly are.
