Meet miles
WELCOME
I’m a Person-Centred Therapist working with Adults, Children and Young People. I believe deeply that healing begins in relationship, in feeling safe enough to be seen, heard and met as you are.
At the heart of my work is the belief that you are the expert on your own life. I don’t come with a fixed agenda or a set of answers. Instead, I offer a calm, compassionate, non-judgmental space where we can explore whatever you’re carrying, at your own pace. Together, we work towards understanding, connection and the changes that matter most to you.
People often come to therapy feeling overwhelmed, stuck or unsure where to begin. You don’t need to have the right words here. We start wherever you are.
Who I Work With
I work with individuals navigating:
Anxiety, low mood or depression
Burnout, stress and workplace challenges
Grief, bereavement and loss
Friendship and relationship difficulties
Life transitions, identity shifts and feeling lost
The emotional impact of caring for others
People-pleasing patterns and putting others first
Neurodivergent experiences, including ADHD and autism
Suicidal thoughts, self-harm and emotional overwhelm
I have experience supporting people through intense and complex emotional distress, and I work in a way that prioritises safety, containment and going at a pace that feels manageable for you.
A Safe, Containing Space
Some feelings can feel too heavy, too messy or too frightening to say out loud. My role is to offer a steady, emotionally holding space where nothing needs to be filtered, justified or fixed.
Through my work as a therapist, primary school teacher and former volunteer counsellor with Childline, I have learned how to stay present with distress, silence, uncertainty and strong emotion. These experiences continue to shape how I work today, especially when things feel overwhelming or hard to articulate.
You are welcome here exactly as you are.
Neurodiversity and Difference
I work in a way that is respectful and affirming of neurodivergent experiences. Alongside my counselling work, I have extensive experience and training in neurodiversity through my role in primary education, where I have supported neurodivergent children and young people within school systems.
Whether you have a diagnosis, are exploring identity or simply feel that traditional spaces haven’t always worked for you, therapy can be a place to make sense of how you experience the world without pressure to mask or perform.
Whether you are neurodivergent yourself, exploring identity later in life or supporting a neurodivergent child or young person, therapy can be a place to make sense of how you experience the world without pressure to justify yourself, mask or perform.
Working With Children & Young People
Supporting a child or young person can feel worrying, especially when emotions run high, behaviour changes or school becomes difficult. You may be unsure whether counselling is the right step, or how your child will respond.
I work with children and young people in a gentle, person-centred way that prioritises emotional safety, trust and relationship. Therapy is not about fixing behaviour or pushing a child to talk before they are ready. but creating a space where they can begin to make sense of their feelings in ways that feel manageable and safe.
Alongside my work as a therapist, I am a primary school teacher and have extensive experience supporting children with a wide range of emotional, developmental and neurodivergent needs, including autism and ADHD. This background gives me a strong understanding of how emotional distress can show up differently in children, at home and in school, and how important it is to work at a pace that respects each child’s individual needs.
For some children, talking comes easily. For others, it doesn’t. Where helpful, I offer creative and play-based approaches, including Sand Tray Therapy, to support expression when words are hard to find. These approaches are always guided by the child and used only where they feel appropriate.
I work collaboratively with parents and carers, offering space to reflect, ask questions and better understand what your child may be experiencing, while keeping the child’s therapeutic space confidential and protected.
Whether your child is feeling anxious, withdrawn, overwhelmed, struggling with friendships or school, or finding it hard to regulate emotions, counselling can offer them a calm, supportive place to be understood.
Creative and Flexible Approaches
For some people, words don’t always come easily. Where it feels helpful, I offer optional creative approaches alongside talking therapy.
I am trained in Sand Tray Therapy, which can support expression when things feel hard to put into words. As a visual communicator, I often work with metaphor, imagery and creative reflection. I am also researching the use of imaginative storytelling, including tabletop role-playing games such as Dungeons & Dragons, as part of my Masters at the University of Aberdeen. These approaches are always offered gently and collaboratively, and only if they feel right for you.
There is no expectation to be creative. We work in the way that suits you best.
About Me
Alongside my work as a therapist, I am a primary school teacher. I’m grounded, reflective and a bit of a geek at heart. I value curiosity, imagination and the rich inner worlds that make each person unique.
Therapy with me is not about being analysed or directed. It’s about being accompanied so we can build connection and understanding together.
